How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days.
~John Burroughs~
Not ever having been a "fan" of Autumn, I do like this quote which I found this morning as I ponder the first day of Autumn. I like how it describes aging and the change to final days with grace and beauty. As I move into the autumn of my own life this is what I wish to remember and to take with me. A life full of grace and light and colour, rich and vibrant.
You live a life so full of grace and light and colour, rich and vibrant, my friend. It is a beauty to behold, in any season.
ReplyDeleteLove you !
Another goosebump post for me!! Beautiful pictures and sentiment. Love the quote. Autumn is my favorite time of year and I only wish it lasted longer. It is one of the reasons I would never leave NY.

I really like that positive spin on ageing Sherry. It is tempting to think that age steals our beauty, but when I think about it, I know lots of older women who are beautiful. The secret to ageing gracefully, I think, is to refuse to let it steal your joy. Joy is beauty.
ReplyDeleteLovely sentiment.I love Autumn, like Cathy up there,I could never leave this area which is Pennsylvania. So lovely this time of year, what a gorgeous world God has given us.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend Sherry!
A really thought provoking post Sherry.
ReplyDeleteI love the quote and the photographs to go with it are beautiful.
I hope that the Autumn in our lives lasts for a very very long time.
Take care.

Would that we age so graceful. Me, I plan on going kicking and screaming into old age, and then some. I saw an old(er) woman this afternoon with stockings rolled down to her ankles, letting it all hang out while she moved her lawn with a gas mower. I thought, "THAT is how I want to be when I grow up".
ReplyDeleteLoved your post ... I'll add a purple dress and a red hat to the autumn colors! :D :D Unfortunately, no color changes here ... dead tress don't count!
ReplyDeleteAutumn has always been a season of re-birth for me, I am an autumn girl by birth.
ReplyDeleteIt always gives me light and hope for the future and the colours are so inspiring :-)
Autumn is here with all its colours and its light. Beautiful capture of its beauty, Sherry (I am an Autumn girl myself).
ReplyDeleteI have always thought as Autumn as a time for introspection, to know where we are and decide where we want to go. Yours words sum this perfectly
Enjoy your week-end :-)
I am moving there with you Sherry, a bit of a frightening thought sometimes. However autumn is a time for renewal, a glorious burst of colour as if nature is in celebration. Perhaps it won't be so bad after all.xx
ReplyDeletebeautiful words and feelings. thanks for sharing! xx
ReplyDeleteoh.... but I LOVE the fall, AND winter! Something must be really wrong with me...
ReplyDeleteIs it wrong for me to think, dried up, turned brittle, and fragile when crushed? lol
ReplyDeleteKidding or course, kinda...
I love your take on this post. And your Kim is right, no matter what your season, you will be fabulous....xo
I, too, am in the Autumn of my life.....isn't it great that we can all enjoy this time of our lives......TOGETHER ..... through blogging.

Beautiful moment, Sherry... and such wise words. As I am now entering mid-life, I will keep these images and thoughts in mind...These days I feel like shining! Thank you. :o) ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful way to look at Autumn. I too struggle at this time of year with the longer dark evenings and even darker mornings. I go into hibernation mode and sleep more :)
