Sunday in the Country...

A beautiful day.  One to relax.  So an ideal day for a drive in the country, to Aberfoyle, Ontario to check out the Antique Market on it's first day of the 2012 season.

I found  nothing at all.  The mister found a few 45s and a duck decoy for an excellent price.

I don't mind coming home empty handed.  I'm trying to declutter ... but if I had seen something that said "I belong to you", that would have been a different story!  I simply enjoyed strolling, looking and remembering and scaring myself because some of these "antiques" seemed like I used them not that long ago!

I could handle a 3 wheel trike just fine these days...
plenty of salvage...
sunlight glinting off the glass of the large frame...and I wonder who she was...
my parents had one of these ashtrays, a focal point in the room...there was a spot for the lighter on the top and the ashtray itself weighed a ton.
such a shame we didn't find this beauty before we bought the Kohler that is in the bathroom now...
or this one...
this car is just my speed...and there is the mister in the background, flipping through box after box after box of 45s...
I know where there are some "spares" for this!

lots more salvage and statuary...
heading home...driving east along the Gardner Expressway coming into downtown Toronto...
and of course, the CN Tower...the photograph is not crooked, we are going into a bend in the road...

  2. I don't drink a beer to often, and I am tonight...I have a slight tingle of beer bubbles in my nose now...thinking of those pots in your new bathroom, was hysterical. I do like them though...
    Hi Al...browsing the records.
    You had pretty blue skies.
Thanks for taking us along. To bad it wasn't "for reels"..

  3. Some erm 'interesting' stuff. Love the photo on the way home, it is so very different than the English lane we travel along, it could almost be another planet.

  6. You know Sherry.....I think taking pictures of the antiques is such a good idea. you get to take them home without buying. (LOL! not sure the proprietor would like that.)
Looks like you had a wonderful time.

  8. What!? You left that pink potty behind? Good heavens, you don't find pink potties everywhere, hope you don't regret that. Lol
I enjoy just looking, I don't have to dust it. I am constantly trying to declutter. It's not like I'm a hoarder or something, but when you "create" you have to have materials right?

  9. Wow, I drove through Aberfoyle on Saturday afternoon, on my way home. I didn't know it was a hot spot for antiques. Yeah, maybe you should pick up that first potty for a spare in case that Kohler breaks....

  10. Great photos and fun post. I agree with Charlie on the "taking pictures". Do we really want all that "stuff?" Still, it is fun to look at. I remember those ashtray stands to. My grandfather had one next to his recliner and that is how picture him today...tilted back in "his chair" smoking his unfiltered "Pall Malls" LOL
